The Diet

Below is a copy of the infamous 'Kick Start Diet'.
There are many variants of this particlular diet,
those of which we have included on it's own page at

If you would like to send in another variation of the diet
please send it to our email address by clicking .

The Kick Start Diet

Stage One ~ Stage Two ~ Stage Three

  • One packet of powdered soup mix - vegetable, chicken or beef.
(could also substitute with stock or consumme.)
  • Two 800g cans of diced/crushed tomatoes
  • Three large fresh tomatoes
  • Four cups of water
  • One bunch of celery with the leaves
  • One bunch of spring onions
  • Three green capsicums
  • Two cups of green beans
  • One kilogram of carrots

Method -
Dice all vegetables, add to a large pot with canned tomatoes, liquids and soup mix. Bring to a rapid boil for five minutes then reduce to a simmer for approximately twenty minutes, or until vegetable tenderness is to your liking. You can vary the thickness of the soup by adding more or less water. To improve the taste feel free to add salt, pepper, herbs or spices.

This soup has negative calories, so you can eat as much as is needed to help make you feel full. It will also boost your immune system if you don't usually eat many vegetables, and also increase your energy levels. If you would like to substitute any of the vegetables in the soup please ensure that the replacement vegetable has close to the same GI number as the original vegetable.

The Seven Day Eating Plan

  • Day 1: eat as much soup and fruit as you want (no bananas)
  • Day 2: eat as much soup and vegetables as you want (raw or lightly steamed).
At dinner, reward yourself with a big baked potato with butter. Do not eat fruit today.
  • Day 3: eat as much soup, vegetables and fruit as you want (no potatoes)
  • Day 4: eat as much soup as you want and make banana smoothies (max three large bananas for the day
with skim/lite milk only). This day is supposed to lessen your desire for sweets.
  • Day 5: eat beef (approx 300g), up to 6 tomatoes and as much of the soup as needed. Drink at least 6 to 8 glasses of water this day to wash the uric acid from your body. You may substitute chicken (no skin) for the beef.
  • Day 6: eat beef, vegetables and as much of the soup as needed (no potatoes). You can even have 2 or 3 steaks
if you like, with leafy green vegetables. Eat your soup at least once.
  • Day 7: eat brown rice, vegetables, fruit juice and as much of the soup as needed

Please ensure that the fruit and vegetables you choose have a low GI.

Allowed Drinks

  • No softdrinks
  • No alocohol
  • Try to limit coffee
  • Black, green or herbal teas (with skim/lite milk only)
  • Unsweetened fruit juice or cranberry juice (diluted 1 part juice to 4 parts water is best)
  • Eight classes of water each day

Required Exercise

Exercise for at least 30 minutes each day. Try walking, low-impact aerobics or something similar (try to find something that you enjoy or can do with a friend). If you decide to try some light weight-lifting please note that as muscle gains tone it also gains weight; muscle will always weight more than fat so only use your bathroom scales once a week. Measure your weight-loss against previously tight-fitting clothing or use a tape measure.
