A Fun Food Journal
Do you feel like you don’t overeat, but can’t figure out why you are gaining weight? Here’s a neat little test you can do with a food journal. All you need is an inexpensive notebook and a pen.
You will need to keep your journal for seven days, writing down what you consume each day. Even if it’s a cracker, cup of coffee, candy, or a meal, you will need to record it in your journal. Do not make any special adjustments to your diet just yet, instead, try to eat like you normally do.
After you’ve done this for one week, you need to add up the calories and divide the week’s total by seven. Now you will have your average daily calorie intake.
Some diet gurus recommend starting your diet by reducing the amount of daily calorie intake by as much as 500 calories. This is not saying you should consume only 500 calories, rather you should knock up to 500 calories off of your daily intake.
Now that you have a rounded estimate by using your food journal, your next step is to concentrate on where to knock some of these numbers down each week. For the next fourteen days work on adjusting your diet and continue keeping your journal.
Compare this two weeks to the first week and see if you were able to reduce calories. Eventually you should be able to train your eating habit now that you have made yourself conscious of every bite that you consume.
Discontinue your journal for a week or two and then try it again. You can keep using this process until you achieve your goal weight.
